Open position at the École normale supérieure (ENS)

École normale supérieure, rue d'Ulm

The École normale supérieure (ENS) in Paris opens one position for a

Professor in Molecular Genetics

The professor will create his/her own team within the Institute of Biology at the ENS (IBENS), the originality of which resides in the strong interactions between genetics and other biological fields (molecular and cell biology, developmental biology, evolutionary and environmental genomics, neurosciences), as well as with physics and chemistry. Within this pluridisciplinary context, the development of ambitious projects dealing with the control of genome expression is expected whatever the biological model. Projects aimed at studying macromolecular machineries will be an asset.

Teaching

The educational project should fit the ENS priority which is to train students to research through a teaching closely linked with the surrounding research laboratories. The professor will teach genetics and molecular biology at undergraduate (bachelor), graduate (master) and post-graduate (doctorate) levels, in particular for the specialty « Cell systems biology » coordinated by IBENS, and the doctoral training programme of the Pierre-Gilles de Gennes Foundation.

Application

Registration on the governmental « Galaxie » website is compulsory. It must be done within the time window defined by the French Ministry for Research (probably February-March 2010, see website). To be acceptable applications (PDF files) have to be sent by e-mail.
