The Changing Arctic is a series of Nordic-French seminars which will take place in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden during 2016 that will address key Artic issues in the field of research. The University of Oulu, in partnership with the Institut français de Finlande and the French Embassy, invites you to a workshop called “Health in the Changing Arctic”.

Changes on lifestyles in the Arctic are currently undergoing, due to several factors such as societal evolutions or climate change. Impacts of these changes on the health of Artic inhabitants are visible for example in changes in dietary patterns and livelihoods or in specific challenges of the area (pollution, dispersed settlement, transport infrastructure, …). These new challenges in terms of well-being, mental wellness and impact of urbanization on health will be discussed. Moreover, new pathways for health research will be evoked through the inputs of geographic information systems (GIS) or medical cohorts. The workshop received financial support from Institut français and doctoral program “Aurora DP” (Thule Institute, University of Oulu).

The participation is free, but registration is mandatory. Please, fill in the registration form here.

Participants have the possibility to present their research with a poster. Especially doctoral students are encouraged to participate.
