Season Film Festival, the four-day-festival of the latest quality films, will be held in Helsinki’s Kinopalatsi theatre from March 30th to April 2nd 2017. Fans of French-speaking cinema will not be disappointed: the festival programme includes five interesting films by French and Belgian filmmakers.
The festival opens with François Ozon’s latest, the black-and-white Frantz, winner of the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice International Film Festival. Ozon himself will be present at the screening, invited by Cinema Mondo and Institut français.
Amongst the other Finnish premiers are La fille inconnnue by the Belgian Dardenne brothers, known for their excellent social realist dramas, Marc Fitoussi’s Mum’s Wrong, a coming-of-age story that takes a hard look at the soulless corporate world, as well as Joachim Lafosse’s After Love, which explores the disintegration of one couple. Friends of animated films are not left out either, as Jean-François Laguionie’s beautiful Louise by the Shore also figures in the programme.
