The University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland has just awarded the title of Doctor Honoris Causa to Professor Jan Borm at the 2019 PhD and Master Graduation Ceremony held in Rovaniemi on May 17th. 18 Finnish and international personalities including HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco were thus distinguished. Jan Borm was rewarded for his outstanding commitment to the cooperation between the University of Lapland and the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin (UVSQ) and the Arctic studies according to the official message read during this event.
Founder of the CEARC research laboratory in 2009 and co-director of the Master 2 Arctic Studies since its inception, Jan Borm has published numerous works dedicated to representations of arctic regions in travel literature. He co-directed a dozen volumes.
This year the program Maupertuis will support the visit of Prof. Tuija Hautala-Hirvioja from the University of Lapland in the team of Prof. Jan Borm of the UVSQ on the subject “Indigeneous law, internal and external views on the Sami and Arctic cultural studies”.
