In this project artists from Finland, France and Morocco search for new perspectives, looking at landscape and society. They reflect on the desire of being elsewhere, in another country, another world or another way of life… They question landmarks, lines, the horizon. Look further, try to move the balance. At the same time they discuss artists’ mobility, their balance between creative work and economic reality, or between different artistic disciplines.
During this year, events take place in three countries. Artists and professionals meet and discuss. What does the north-south axis mean? Can it be moved, or turned around? How does the future of art look in different countries? Are there alternative ways to distribute art? How do digital supports change mobility?
This project was initiatied by artists’ collective DEUX bis in Marseille. Its members include Finnish artist Pauliina Salminen and Moroccan Driss Aroussi. They wanted to expand their organization’s international action, building an artist-run, human scale network, starting from their homecountries. Nine artists and three non-profit organizations take part in the project this year.
Two events will take place in Helsinki in November at MUU Gallery and at the French Institute.
Coordinated by Image Clé – DEUX bis in collaboration with Artists’ Association MUU, Le Cube, Art-Cade, Zoëme, Dos Mares, the French Institute.
