The book Polttoroviolta pyhimykseksi: Jeanne d’Arcin oikeusmurha will be published on Tuesday November 21, at 3pm, at the Kirja & Kahvi (Kaisa-talo, Vuorikatu 7, 00100 Helsinki). The book casts new light on the course of the trial and offers new information on the persons responsible for her death penalty.
The trial of Joan of Arc (1412-1431), the Maid of Orléans, the heroine of the Hundred Years’ War, is one of the best-known miscarriages of justice in history. Matti Norri has translated the archives of an exceptional trial by many aspects. The book also contains two article, in which Jyrki Knuutila examines the trial through the lens of the judiciary administration of the Roman Catholic Church, and Jukka Kekkonen, that of a political trial.
For the book launch event, the three authors, Matti Norri, Jyrki Knuutila, and Jukka Kekkonen will be interviewed by Aleksi Moine, from the French Institute. The event will be in Finnish.
Welcome! No need to register for the event.
