On the 12th and 13th of December, the « Transformations towards Sustainable Development: pathways to equity and economic and environmental sustainability” workshop will be held at the Kalastajatorppa Hotel in Helsinki.

This workshop, which is organized by an independent group of experts writing the global sustainable development report 2019 for the UN and hosted by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE), is co-funded by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD) and the United Nations’ Department of Economic and Social Affairs.

The aim of this workshop is to study the issues of transformations towards sustainable development, by analyzing the frictions that hinder it and the factors that enable it at the same time. To do so, the workshop will focus on the role of flows passing beyond administrative and geographical boundaries, by multiplying approaches on a variety of scales: local, national, regional and global, as well as interlinkages between them.

The workshop will count with the participation of Raoul Mille (National Research Institute of Science and Technology for Environment and Agriculture), Jean-Paul Moatti (French research Institute for Development) and Jean Albergel (French Research institute for Development). H.E. Serge Tomasi, ambassador of France in Finland, will also be present.
