The Times Higher Education World Education Ranking 2017 was published in September. It makes a list of 400 great universities in art and humanities.

Among them are thirteen French universities. Three are in the top 100 universities. Paris Sciences Lettres (PSL), which is a group of 22 institutions (among others École Normale Supérieure, École Nationale des Chartes, École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs, Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris…), is ranked 32 (the ENS was ranked 45 in 2016), whereas Paris I-Panthéon Sorbonne is ranked 39 (35 in 2016), and Paris IV-Sorbonne 54 (33 in 2016).

The ten other universities are : Aix-Marseille University (151–175), University of Bordeaux, Paris Diderot University – Paris 7 (176–200), Paris Nanterre University, Paris-Sud University (201–250), University of Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées, University of Strasbourg (251–300), University of Côte d’Azur, Grenoble Alpes University and University of Lille (301–400).
