In the framework of the cooperation between the Institut Français de Finlande, the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, the Finnish Society for Science and Letters and the Finnish Academy for Science and Letters, Prof. Catherine Bréchignac, Perpetual secretary of the Académie des Sciences in France and French Ambassador for Science, Innovation and Technology was in Helsinki the 12th and 13th June 2017.

On 12th June 2017, a bilateral agreement was signed in the French Embassy in Finland between the French and the Finnish Science Academies.

On 13th June, the Prof. Brechignac gave a conference at the Helsinki House of Estates about Science and innovation in the context of global issues. Numerous participants were present to this event which ended by a debate between Prof. Brechignac and the audience. This conference was opened by speeches of Dr. Jeannette Bougrab, the French Ambassador to Finland Serge Tomasi, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Education and Culture in Finland Anita Lehikoinen. The Prof. Fred Karlsson Chair of the Finnish Society for Sciences and Letters moderated the conference.
