The faculty of Social Science at the University of Helsinki will welcome Serge Paugam, professor and research director at the CNRS (National Centre for Scientific Research) and the EHESS (School of High Studies in Social Science) on Thursday the 1st of March for a conference around his areas of research.

Professor Serge Paugam is known for having elaborated the concept of social disqualification and having led several comparative research programs on the elementary forms of poverty in modern societies. He is currently working on the reproduction and the renewal of inequalities, which includes the comparison of what he calls attachment regimes. He is the author of books such has « La disqualification sociale: essai sur la nouvelle pauvreté » (Social disqualification : essay on poverty), « Repenser la solidarité » (Rethinking solidarity) or « Le lien social » (The social bond).
