Types of stays and education

  1. What are the available course formats?
    Three course options are available:
  • an intensive program with 27 lessons per week;
  • a standard program with 20 lessons per week;
  • a semi-intensive program with 17 lessons per week.
    Course materials are included.
  1. How many students are there per group?
    Class sizes are limited to a maximum of 18 students, ensuring a productive learning environment and plenty of opportunities for speaking French.
  1. How long can a language trip last?
    The duration of your stay is flexible. Programs typically range from a few weeks to longer stays, depending on the learner’s goals. Enrollment is open all year long.
Who can participate?

  1. What is the minimum age to join a language stay in Lyon?
    The programs offered through the French Institute of Finland are open to participants aged 14 and up. For minors, specific arrangements apply, including homestay accommodation and additional requirements for their legal guardians.
  1. Are these programs only for teenagers?
    No. They are open to both teenagers and adults. Course options are available year-round, depending on skill level and session starting dates.
  1. What level of French is required?
    Courses are offered from A1 to B2 level. C1 level may be available depending on demand. For complete beginners, start dates are not available every week and generally occur once every four weeks.
  1. Can you participate even if you are a complete beginner in French?
    Yes, it is possible. However, for complete beginners, the start date must coincide with a scheduled session, which is generally offered once a month.
Accommodation

  1. Is getting accommodation through Inflexyon mandatory?
    Accommodation is only mandatory for minors, who must stay with a host family for the entire duration of the program. Adults can choose student residence housing, stay with a host family, or arrange their own accommodation.
  1. What type of accommodation is offered for minors?
    Minors are placed with host families. The accommodation form allows you to indicate important details such as allergies, dietary requirements, pets in the household, or specific preferences.
  1. What type of accommodation is offered for adults?
    Adults can choose between student residence housing or a host family. It is also possible for adults to arrange other accommodation independently.
  1. How much does accommodation cost?
    For host families, the rates are €145 per week with breakfast included and €200 per week with half-board, with a slightly reduced rate for stays of 13 weeks or more. The rates for accommodation in a student residency are €300 per month. A reservation fee of €80 applies for all accommodation booked through the school.
Registration and Payment

  1. How does registration work?
    Registration is handled through the French Institute of Finland. The registration form can be found at the bottom of this page and must be completed with your choice of program, the duration of the stay, preferred accommodation, and, if needed, a request for airport or train station transfer.
  1. How does the payment work?
    A 30% deposit is required to confirm registration. The remaining 70% is paid upon arrival in Lyon. Payment can be made via a payment link or bank transfer, which will be provided to the student by the French Institute of Finland.
  1. What is required for a minor participant?
    Legal guardians must provide parental authorization and emergency contact details. For minors, it is recommended to prepare the registration documents and required materials well in advance.
  1. What happens if the requested accommodation is no longer available?
    The search for accommodation only begins after the deposit and accommodation form have been received. If the requested accommodation is unavailable, an alternative solution will be offered.
Arriving in Lyon

  1. How can I get to Lyon from Helsinki?
    There are no direct flights from Helsinki to Lyon. Inflexyon will provide detailed guidance on possible routes, which may combine plane and train travel.
  1. Can I request a transfer from the airport or train station in Lyon?
    Yes, a transfer service is available. The cost is €120 from the airport and €60 from the train station. This service is offered to students who have booked accommodation through the school.
