The European Film Weeks, organized by the Representation of the European Commission and the Liaison Office of the European Parliament in Finland, is back in Helsinki with a rich selection of films from all across Europe. The French Institute of Finland is participating and invites you to discover the powerful drama by Boris Lojkine, The Story of Souleymane (2024)!
This French film follows a Guinean undocumented bike courier in Paris during the two days leading up to his asylum interview at the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons. Featuring non-professional actor Abou Sangaré, the film was awarded at the 2024 Cannes Festival and was created based on real stories from asylum seekers and couriers.
Synopsis: As he pedals through the streets of Paris to deliver meals, Souleymane repeats his story. In two days, he has to go through his asylum application interview, the key to obtaining papers. But Souleymane is not ready.
