Jazz – Sévérine Morfin’s Mad Maple on tour in Finland

Reconnect with nature through melodies that interact with the sounds of forests, glaciers, and storms.

If trees could speak, what would they say? That’s the question the music of Mad Maple, led by violist Sévérine Morfin, seeks to explore.

Blending composition and improvisation, Mad Maple invites us to reflect on our relationship with nature and sound. Through three poetically charged suites, the viola (Sévérine Morfin), guitar (Guillaume Magne), clarinet and monotron (Élodie Pasquier) engage in a dialogue with field recordings of forests, glaciers, and storms, captured by Céline Grangey.

This artistic performance will be enriched by the Finnish jazz duo Selma Savolainen (vocals) and Eero Tikkanen (double bass). A multi-award-winning singer, composer, and lyricist, Selma Savolainen is known for her interpretations that are both powerful and sensitive. Eero Tikkanen, on the other hand, is a bold and expressive bassist whose open-minded approach allows him to move effortlessly between experimental and traditional jazz. He performs with several cult-status groups.
