As part of Helsinki Day, the French Institute of Finland is offering contemporary dance workshops led by Inka Auvinen, a professional dancer with a degree from the University of the Arts (Helsinki) and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (London).
As the official theme of the Helsinki Day is ‘by young people, for young people’, the workshops are primarily aimed at 15–28-year-olds. No previous dance experience is required to take part in these workshops, conducted in French and in Finnish (with English where necessary).
Content:
Les ateliers commenceront par un échauffement, durant lequel vous vous familiariserez avec l’espace et les autres participants. Inka Auvinen is a professional Finnish dancer. Fluent in French and perfectly trilingual, she was born and raised in Brussels, where she lived for 18 years. She first completed a bachelor’s degree in contemporary dance at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, before joining Dart DSP, an intensive dance programme based in Berlin. She later went on to complete a master’s degree in dance at UniArts, Helsinki.
Her international background has greatly influenced her artistic creativity, and Inka particularly enjoys working in multicultural environments. For her, the body’s imaginative potential, as well as the artistic systems that allow it to be fully realised, lie at the heart of her practice. As a teacher, she aims to share the insights from her own research into bodily movement with kindness and tenderness. For her, the most important thing is to have a good time together!
