The long-awaited moment has finally arrived: after a short moving break, we’re reopening our doors at Tehtaankatu 27–29 D on August 15! To kick off this new chapter, here’s everything you need to know.
How to find us?
Once you arrive at Tehtaankatu 27–29 D, enter through the large archway leading to the inner courtyard. From there, take the elevator up to the 4th floor. Good news: unlike at Yrjönkatu, there’s no need for an intercom — the doors and elevator will remain open during the Institute’s opening hours.
Public opening hours
Starting August 15, our opening hours will be as follows:
- Monday: Closed
- Tuesday–Wednesday: 11 :00 AM – 7 :00 PM
- Thursday: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM (library) and 4:30 PM – 7:00 PM (weekly events)
- Friday : 10 :00 AM – 4 :00 PM
- Saturday : 10 :00 AM – 2 :00 PM
- Sunday : Closed
Is there something happening at the Institute during the reopening day?
To celebrate the occasion, we’re hosting a special event: a beginner hip-hop dance workshop led by French dancer and choreographer Abdennour Belalit!
Come discover this vibrant art form — and get a first look at our brand-new event space.
An official inauguration of the Institute will be held later on. In the meantime, feel free to check out our cultural programme. Our recommendation: the exhibition “Dialogue in Design – From Gobelins to Aalto”, with its opening on September 11.
Is the library already open as well?
Yes, you can borrow and return books starting August 15! Our media library is still taking shape, so don’t hesitate to ask for help if you can’t find what you’re looking for.
To borrow books, you need a media library account. Since spring 2025, this account — which is completely free — works with just a valid ID; no card needed!
And the French classes?
Classes resume starting August 16, either in person at our new address or online—whichever you prefer. There’s still time to register!
We look forward to welcoming you to our new premises for even more French-colored moments!
If you have any questions about life at our new premises, please don’t hesitate to contact us at institut@france.fi.
