New at the library: our autumn updates

Self-service machine, library card, exceptional opening hours: everything you need to know about our library these upcoming months!

This autumn, we have been delighted to notice that many new visitorst have found their way to our library! Whether you’re a regular or have just discovered this hidden gem in Helsinki, here are a few things to note so that your visit goes smoothly.

Self-service machine and library card

To offer our users more flexibility, we have installed a self-service machine in our library: you can now borrow and return your books on your own! The machine works with your current account and guides you step by step when you borrow or return items.

To make borrowing easier, a new library card has been created for every user. If you haven’t picked up yours yet, it’s waiting for you at the reception desk. And if you forget your card at home, you can still borrow by typing your name using the keyboard. To avoid any confusion, please note that we’re not talking about our old, blue-and-white cards with our logo.
You don’t need your card to return books.

Special opening hours in October and November

Due to public holidays and DELF language exams, the library will be closed on Saturday, October 31 and Saturday, November 14. This will not affect the Institute’s courses or other activities.

Most importantly: a space open to everyone

Despite these small changes, our library remains a space open to everyone, ideal for working, spending a pleasant moment, and borrowing books in Finnish and French in a warm and unique setting.

Head to Tehtaankatu 27-29 D, take elevator no. 4 in the inner courtyard up to the 4th floor and come to visit us  – we look forward to welcoming you!
