Pour les Francophones, le finnois est une langue complexe, difficile à aborder car offrant peu de repères avec des mots connus auxquels s’accrocher. Dans son histoire, le finnois a peu emprunté à d’autres langues, mais on peut tout de même y trouver quelques mots ou expressions d’origine française, qui sont souvent arrivés là après avoir transité par le suédois ou l’allemand.
