DELF / DALF for all

The Diplôme d’Études de Langue Française (DELF) and the Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF) are official diplomas delivered by the French Ministry of National Education with a lifetime validity.

1. Description of the tasks and sample papers

DELF (Diplôme d’Études de Langue Française) and DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) assess skills in the four fields of language learning described in the Common European Framework for Languages: reading, listening, writing and speaking.

There are 6 independent diplomas corresponding to the 6 levels of the Common European Framework for Languages: DELF A1, DELF A2, DELF B1, DELF B2, DALF C1, DALF C2.

To acquire the French nationality, you have to prove a minimum of a B1 level.

To register in a university, you have to prove a B2 level for a bachelor’s program and a C1 level for a Master’s program.

To emigrate to Canada or Quebec, you have to demonstrate the highest possible level : the higher your level, the more points scored in your application.

If you wish to work in a French environment, DELF B1 or B2 or DALF C1 are appreciated by French companies.
