France-Nokia Chaire d’Excellence (ICT)– Call for applications 2024

The France-Nokia Chaire d’Excellence in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT) offers a unique opportunity for French scholars to engage in an international research collaboration.

The Chaire d’Excellence position is available for scholars and specialists in Information and Communications Technologies and includes research and lecturing at a higher education or research institution in Finland.

The Chaire d’Excellence is able to engage in a variety of professional activities, such as:

  • research collaboration in an international environment,
  • writing joint publications with Finnish colleagues,
  • teaching and lecturing,
  • mentoring student research at the master and doctoral level, and
  • developing international exchange collaboration between the French home and Finnish host institutions.

The scholar and the Finnish host institution work together in designing the Chair position activities.

The minimum period for the visit is four months. The visiting researcher coming to Finland will typically participate in research work, give lectures or, if applicable, collaborate with Finnish companies.

The collaboration is expected to progress the field of ICT. Candidates should be eminent scholars and have a prominent record of scholarly accomplishment, including a significant publication record.

The France-Nokia Chaire d’Excellence in Information and Communications Technologies is jointly funded by the Nokia Foundation (EUR 20.000) and the French researcher home institution (EUR 20.000). The grant will support costs related to the visiting period. Minimum visit period of four months is required, but the French researcher can stay for a longer period if agreed between home and host institutions. The mobility can take place in 2024 or in 2025 according to the researcher’s availability.

The visiting researcher does not necessarily need to speak Finnish or Swedish in order to be able to live in Finland. English is widely spoken in academic circles and in the country as a whole.
